During the assembly we sang a song for teacher appreciation day Mrs. Monaghan selected three students to pick a teacher that they really loved the song the students in the backround sung was You Are My Sunshine the three teachers that where chosen where Mrs. Fiedler, Mrs. Kelly, and Mrs. Durecka the three students that where selected by Mrs. Monaghan (Savannah Kania, Emma, and Mya) had to write a acrosstic poem about the teacher they chose while the students read there poem the students in the backround hummed the song and when the last person went that chose Mrs. Durecka the students in the backround claped and sang You Are My Sunshine at the same time. WE HAD AN AWESOME TIME!!! Our Crull class did something exciting; we met up with a 3rd grade class in a different state. We had a little trivia guessing game; we had to try to guess where they were from by them giving us clues, and vice versa. This was an exciting experience with a different class. We had fun doing this activity with these third grade friends, they seemed pretty excited too! We did this little program through the wonderful app, Skype. We learned a lot from where they live and they learned about our state, it was very fun!
We have a crew of fourth grade students that meet to make their own "super hard- like so hard nineth grade kids can't do them" math problems. Right now they are working on decimals, division, and fractions.
Students at H D Crull Elementary were able to get their blood pumping on Friday, March 21st at our weekly Friday assembly. As a treat, we had Mrs. McElwain teach the students and staff some awesome Zumba moves. For the last song, the students who go to our after school program made up their own dance moves and shared it with the rest of the school. What a fun time!
Every student on-task and reading in the hallway. Way to show your school-mates what awesome reading behavior looks like. :)
Mrs Meeker-Fitchett's class enjoyed a field trip to the local YMCA! They learned how to be safe around water and enjoyed free time in the pool. Fun was had by all!
Today we had an author, Lane Walker, visit our second through fifth grade students. Mr. Walker is a Michigan principal and children's author. He has three published adventure novels that are set in nature. Prior to his visit to Crull Elementary, our fantastic friends at Literacy and Beyond (LAB) bought every student in grades second through fifth a copy of one of Mr. Walkers three adventure novels. Mr. Walker presented to students during a 45 minute assembly about how they can do anything they put their minds to. It was high energy, and had our students laughing, dancing, and excited to learn! Thank you to Mr. Walker and LAB for bringing us this amazing experience for our students. Students in fourth grade went on a field trip to Longway Planetarium in Flint, MI on Thursday, November 14th.
